Eel Pie Island Garden
Twickenham
In the design phase March 2025
The house is an elevated riverside dwelling on Eel Pie Island with a large garden accessed off the main path, with a direct path leading to a timber covered walkway for the houseboat berths and to the front door.
Want a sociable vibe led garden to reflect quirky and artistic nature of the island and its rich history. It must sit well with the unique timber house and take design inspiration from the details and patterns used on the building and the ‘boaty’ nature of the site.
The garden path to the house from the entrance is used by the occupants of the houseboats and would like to separate the ‘public’ access from the private garden.
Want a long thin swimming pool to the left side of the garden in front of the slipway with a sauna. A space for seating and dining, in both sun and shade. Would like to create different seating pockets around the garden; as well as the sociable space would like smaller and more intimate seating areas. The garden must flow well and seamlessly lead you from one area to the next with a cohesive design. Planting to be soft, wild and unmanicured with plenty of evergreen structure and low maintenance arching grasses and feature trees.
