An Architect’s Garden
Kingston upon Thames
Finished and planted October 2024
by All Things Green Landscapers
The brief was to create a south facing tropical garden that brings the plants ‘inside’ the house by having planting beds close to the new extension with folding glass doors. Limestone tiles are used inside the house and outside on the terrace to make it one large seemless space and the morning terrace by the house is enclosed with low evergreen lush plants and a large feature tree or shrub as a focal point. The garden is divided into zones, with clay paver paths and planting leading the clients around the garden to the various seating spaces and a set back outdoor cooking area. The main feature is a large black pergola at the end of the garden for enclosed seating with a solid polycarbonate clear roof and hanging lights, under which a large L-shape sofa provides comfortable seating for evening lounging and entertainment. The shed is hidden discretely to the right.
