Georgian Garden
Haslemere
Completed late 2023
A large Georgian house on a corner plot with a large garden accessed from both the south-west and south-east boundaries which was subject to a complete makeover of the house and garden.
The brief was to create a traditional English garden to suit the style and age of the house, to sit comfortably alongside the house and blend in with the architecture.
The path to the side door is used more than the main entrance and therefore had to be both impressive and welcoming. The main entrance is much more formal with a tree-lined avenue and impressive frontage. The garden had to flow as whole and wrap around the house leading to the different areas of the garden. The hard landscaping is deliberately designed with character, charm and chaos using a mixuture of traditional materials and patterns, such as York stone, clay pavers in running course and herringbone patterns, gravel and large feature planters from a reclamation yard. The main south terrace has a detailed paving pattern of natural stone, brick, tiles on edge and a central diamond motif to line up with the loggia.
