Classic Garden with topairy & urns

Surbiton

Finished June 2024 by All Things Green

A beautiful old house that deserves a classical garden with urns, benches, topairy, and beautiful paving and plants. It also needs to be a family garden with plenty of lawn, space for dining on a dappled terrace, a BBQ area, and a sympathetic deck in the shade at the end of the garden under the large beech tree.

The paving is limestone to compliment the house laid in a random linear pattern, with a pretty traditional Lutyens bench halfway down the lawn flanked with classical stone urns to either side. There are a series of paths leading to different areas of the garden - stepping stones in the lawn to the deck and a hidden self-binding gravel path to the the garden room behind the garden screen. This is a beautiful painted timber trellis created to provide a backdrop for the Haddonstone vase and plinth, and is surrounded by a mass of white hydrangeas and low evergreen hedges.

The planting is simple and robust to withstand footballs and cricket balls, but will be very pretty and easy to maintain.
