A long narrow garden that had a swimming pool which was never used and created an eyesore due to the cover and safety netting. The garden is for a family with three children and needed to look good from the house but still be practical and fun for the kids. We divided it into sections with formal round lawn and dining space near the house, an informal lounging space in the sun with a horseshoe lawn leading to a play lawn with a curved pergola for swings, and the hidden trampoline (eventually the wisteria will fully conceal it), and beyond that a productive vegetable garden with a greenhouse and chickens. We revealed the beautiful London brick walls, created round brick paths and terraces with reclaimed york stone, formal parterre hedges, and simple but pretty planting with pale pink roses, alliums, irises, and hydrangeas.
